Bugs Stuck on Your Windshield?!

How to get stuck-on bugs off your windshield and front end!

It’s bug season, and if you’re traveling anywhere across the United States, it likely means that your windshield and front end will be caked with the sticky remains of tiny critters as you make your way from town to town.

Why does your windshield get covered in bugs?

Cars are designed with aerodynamics in mind. There’s a lot of complicated physics involved in designing the shape of each vehicle to try to mitigate bugs from slamming against the windshield at high speeds. Bugs caught in the airflow will generally slip up and past an angled windshield, while flatter windshields get covered in sticky bug remains.

What makes it worse?

Generally speaking, you want to try to rinse the bugs off as soon as you can. Bug splatter becomes a compounding obstruction the longer you allow it to go without being washed, and also becomes harder to clean the longer it sits on your windshield.

Using inferior windshield cleaners with your wipers or at gas stations that aren’t specifically made for bugs can cause smearing. These long streaks present a further driving hazard as you make your way down the bright sunny roadways.

What can you do?

The Bug Blast function at Rocky Mountain Car Wash is specifically formulated to safely and effectively remove not only bugs, but all organic material from your vehicle. Pull into any of our self-serve bay locations whenever you’re traveling through towns in Wyoming or Montana and soak those bugs in Bug Blast while you clean the rest of your car. Then, rinse those bugs clear off with a high pressure wash. This non-abrasive soap gets the bugs off easily and without any scrubbing at all!
